QUOTATION – For almost ten years, Mickdyanto lived in anxiety every time the sky started to get dark. Rain not only brings water, but also a threat to his family. From the leaking tin roof, water dripped into every corner of the house. Rotten plank floors and fragile wooden walls are part of the daily life he lives with his wife and three children.
On Saturday morning, July 25 2026, that atmosphere changed. The hope that had only been kept in prayer until now slowly began to find its way.
The Natuna Regency Government, through the Public Housing and Settlement Areas Service (Perkim), directly conducted a survey at Miki’s house in RT 002 RW 003, Sedanau Village, West Bunguran District. During the inspection, the Head of Sedanau Village, Adi Suharsa, also accompanied the team to ensure that the condition of the house was seen directly and that the verification process was running according to the facts on the ground.
One by one the parts of the house were checked. The hole in the tin roof, the wooden walls that had become brittle with age, and the plank floors that were starting to become brittle did not escape the attention of the officers. The survey is the government’s first step to verify the condition of the house before further handling according to the applicable mechanism.
For Miki, the arrival of the Perkim team is not just a government agenda. For him, it was proof that the voices of ordinary citizens were finally being heard.
“I would like to thank the Natuna Regency Government, especially the Perkim Service, and also the Sedanau Village Head who has accompanied this survey. I am very grateful because finally our house can be seen in person. Hopefully there will be follow-up so that our family can have a more decent house,” said Miki.
So far, Miki has been living off odd jobs. When the season allows him to go to sea as a fisherman, while when there are not enough marine products, he works as a construction worker or accepts any job to meet his family’s needs. Despite these limitations, he never expected to own a luxurious house. He just wants a safe and decent place to live for his wife and three children.
The presence of the Sedanau Village Head in assisting with the survey also reflects the synergy between the sub-district government and the Natuna Regency Government in ensuring that residents who need assistance are actually recorded and receive attention according to real conditions in the field.
Previously, the story of Miki, who lived in an uninhabitable house for almost a decade, attracted public attention. The condition of houses that are leaky, rotten and almost collapsed is a real picture of the existence of residents who need the government’s helping hand.
Now, after the government moved quickly to conduct a survey, a glimmer of hope has grown again among this small family. Miki hopes that the process that has begun will not stop with data collection, but will continue until his family can actually live in a decent home.
“For us, home is not just a place to shelter. Home is a place where children grow up feeling safe. Hopefully this hope will really come true,” he concluded.
